Nollywood faith-based film Agbara Nla: The Return is already making waves at the Nigerian box office before its official cinema release.
The film generated more than ₦71 million from single-day preview screenings, putting it at the centre of the latest Nollywood box-office conversation. Reports say the performance also set new records for a preview screening.
Agbara Nla: The Return is a continuation of the story from the 1993 Nigerian classic Agbara Nla. The new film was directed by Damilola Bamiloye and Joshua Bamiloye, with Chris Odeh serving as producer.
The strong preview performance comes at a time when Nigerian cinema continues to see major audience turnouts and increasingly ambitious film campaigns.
The film’s early box-office numbers will now put more attention on its official theatrical run and whether it can maintain the momentum generated by its preview screenings.
For Nollywood, the result adds another major talking point to an already busy period for the industry, coming shortly after Black Market attracted more than 51,000 viewers at a record-breaking Lagos screening.
With more than ₦71 million already generated from previews, Agbara Nla: The Return has started its cinema journey on a very strong note.
